stretch of morning
that suns on and on
even while people
lose their homes,
lose their keys,
lose themselves in a crowd.
Answers
will not be found
on the windowsill

the temperature of your gaze
suffused with opaque desperation
will not suffice to mold
that which does not want
to be molded.
